Actress Barbie Hsu (徐熙媛) is, once again, rumored to be pregnant.

“Insiders” are saying Barbie and her husband Wang Xiaofei’s (汪小菲) friends in Beijing are openly talking about the baby to be.

In response, Barbie will not accept new work commitments, including an offer from Jiangsu Satellite TV to appear at its Spring Festival Gala with boy band F4.

Since Barbie and Xiaofei tied the knot in March 2011, the 36-year-old has pulled out all the stops to try and get pregnant (including having sex, presumably).

The former vegetarian has changed her diet, started to eat meat and put on weight.

She has also visited traditional Chinese medicine doctors to strengthen her physique.

It was previously reported that her mother-in-law Zhang Lan (张兰), founder of a restaurant chain in China, asked her son to choose between herself and Barbie if the latter could not produce offspring.

Which sounds weirdly incestuous.

Rumoured lovebirds Vic Chou (周渝民) and Reen Yu (喻虹淵) are thought to be cohabiting after the actress was spotted at Vic’s place on many occasions.

The media’s most recent sighting of the couple took place last Thursday when Vic, member of boy band F4, was yet again seen taking Reen to a supermarket near his place.

The duo returned to his apartment after grocery shopping.

Vic’s manager refused to comment on the actor’s personal life and said assumptions are unnecessary.

Similarly, Reen’s manager denied the cohabitation rumors and said, “This is normal behavior between friends. She goes shopping with her other friends too.”

Vic and Reen first met on the set of Taiwan drama Black & White in 2009 but they were not romantically linked until the next year when the model-actress was frequently seen shuttling in and out of Vic’s place.

Though both sides have repeatedly refuted dating claims, Vic celebrated his 31st birthday with Reen this year, when the pair went to a massage center together.

Vic previously dated actresses Barbie Hsu (徐熙媛) and Béatrice Hsu (許瑋倫).

“China’s No. 1 nude model” Gan Lulu (干露露) vows she and her younger sister will develop their showbiz careers and rival celebrity sisters Barbie Hsu (徐熙媛) and Dee Hsu (徐熙娣).

The bold Lulu proudly said on a number of variety TV shows that she has shot more than one movie and TV drama, on top of performing in music videos and modeling at auto shows.

Therefore, she said she is confident that she can help her younger sister Gan Maomao (干毛毛) develop her career in showbiz.

“I won’t restrict her development. I’ll write songs for her,” the 27-year-old professed.

Certainly questions were raised about what real advantages they possess to shine in the competitive industry.

After explaining her position in showbiz and angered by her interviewer, Lulu angrily said: “You can’t just die simply because people want you to die. Those who foul-mouth you are idiots!

“We sisters just want to become people like Big S (Barbie) and Little S (Dee). No matter what others say, we just want to be ourselves. They can’t stop us from being successful!”

May Daily Says: Good luck to them and time will tell. But if you want to be yourselves, why try and be Barbie & D? Duh?

The Shanghai-based high-end Lan Club (兰会所), run by Xiaofei, has been auctioned off, according to various reports.

Xiaofei’s mother Zhang Lan (张兰), founder of South Beauty Group (俏江南集团) which owns Lan Club, explained it was because their landlord is in debt and the auction has nothing to do with their business operations as the new owner of the property will have to honor their remaining lease contract.

She expressed confidence that the change in landlords will not affect their business.

This is not the first time the family business is reported to be in trouble.

Recently, the group’s restaurant in Taiwan — its debut expansion across the Taiwan Strait — was rumored to be on the brink of bankruptcy and its employees were not paid on time.

Xiaofei and Barbie rushed back to Taipei last week to boost employee morale and assure them that their business is in a healthy shape.

Xiaofei explained the paycheck was delayed because his firm had to remit money from China via Hong Kong to Taiwan.

Netizens however responded that this suggested their revenues in Taiwan were not sufficient to pay employees, and therefore it was being run at a loss.

Before that, she shot more than 10 commercials, but only showed parts of her body, including her back in Tien Hsin’s (天心) shower gel commercial, and her long hair in Isabella Leong’s (梁洛施) and Li Jing’s (利菁) shampoo commercials.

After happily announcing that she had sold more than 10,000 photo books, Yu Ting celebrated by skinny-dipping at a motel, with dozens of reporters present.

She claimed to have had a notebook stolen that contained loads of nude photos in January 2012, at her hot pot restaurant in Taipei.

She graduated from Taipei Hwa Kang Arts School, which has produced many celebrities, including Dee Hsu (徐熙娣), Barbie Hsu (徐熙媛), Rainie Yang (楊丞琳), Jimmy Lin (林志穎) and Pace Wu (吳佩慈).

Taiwan’s celebrities have been loud and proud in support of their presidential candidates for today’s election.

Ma Ying-jeou‘s (馬英九) die-hard fans Dee Hsu (徐熙娣), Barbie Hsu (徐熙媛), Mavis Fan (范曉萱), Pace Wu (吳佩慈) and Aya (阿雅) posed with V signs at a dinner gathering, in a photo uploaded onto their Sina Weibo accounts, the Twitter clone.

The virtual influence could be huge as Dee has 15.3 million followers on Sina Weibo, second only to China actress Yao Chen’s (姚晨) 16 million, on the largest Chinese-language microblog.

TV host Emi Lee (李明依) also showed the same hand gesture in her photo.

Even idol singer Wang Lee-hom (王力宏) had to make a statement. He left a tweet, asking his fans who they would vote for in the “final”: “No. 1 sister or No. 2 brother?”

Among the three presidential candidates, Ying-jeou is in a tight race against Taiwan independence-advocating rival, Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文), a female politician who drew number 1 for the ballot designation.

Although Lee-hom did not give any hint of his own predilection, his loyal fans immediately read between the lines, replying, “Of course, No. 2 brother since you asked it this way.”

Lee-hom is nicknamed “er ge” (二哥), or “No. 2 brother” as he is the second child in his family.

So, now it’s 2012, what were your top memories of celebrity life in 2011? According to the vast majority of China’s netizens, who celebrate their virtual lives on Sina Weibo microblog, Cecilia and Nicholas’ implosion was the top event.

Here’s the rest of the cast, as voted for by China’s internet citizens — though the principle of one vote seems to be a bit confused (obviously need practice) and there was a multiple choice system in use, hence the percentage figures given.

The couple issued a divorce statement on August 22.

4. Musician and film director Gao Xiaosong (高晓松) was sentenced to jail time of six months for DUI, with 33% of vote.

5. Tsui Hark’s (徐克) Flying Swords of Dragon Gate (龙门飞甲) and Zhang Yimou’s (张艺谋) The Flowers of War (金陵十三钗) are engaged in a cutthroat competition, with 32% of vote.
