“Insiders” are saying Barbie and her husband Wang Xiaofei’s (汪小菲) friends in Beijing are openly talking about the baby to be.

In response, Barbie will not accept new work commitments, including an offer from Jiangsu Satellite TV to appear at its Spring Festival Gala with boy band F4.

Since Barbie and Xiaofei tied the knot in March 2011, the 36-year-old has pulled out all the stops to try and get pregnant (including having sex, presumably).

The former vegetarian has changed her diet, started to eat meat and put on weight.

She has also visited traditional Chinese medicine doctors to strengthen her physique.

It was previously reported that her mother-in-law Zhang Lan (张兰), founder of a restaurant chain in China, asked her son to choose between herself and Barbie if the latter could not produce offspring.

Which sounds weirdly incestuous.

The media’s most recent sighting of the couple took place last Thursday when Vic, member of boy band F4, was yet again seen taking Reen to a supermarket near his place.

The duo returned to his apartment after grocery shopping.

Vic’s manager refused to comment on the actor’s personal life and said assumptions are unnecessary.

Similarly, Reen’s manager denied the cohabitation rumors and said, “This is normal behavior between friends. She goes shopping with her other friends too.”

Vic and Reen first met on the set of Taiwan drama Black & White in 2009 but they were not romantically linked until the next year when the model-actress was frequently seen shuttling in and out of Vic’s place.

Though both sides have repeatedly refuted dating claims, Vic celebrated his 31^st birthday with Reen this year, when the pair went to a massage center together.

Vic previously dated actresses Barbie Hsu (徐熙媛) and Béatrice Hsu (許瑋倫).

The Shanghai-based high-end Lan Club (兰会所), run by Xiaofei, has been auctioned off, according to various reports.

Xiaofei’s mother Zhang Lan (张兰), founder of South Beauty Group (俏江南集团) which owns Lan Club, explained it was because their landlord is in debt and the auction has nothing to do with their business operations as the new owner of the property will have to honor their remaining lease contract.

She expressed confidence that the change in landlords will not affect their business.

This is not the first time the family business is reported to be in trouble.

Recently, the group’s restaurant in Taiwan — its debut expansion across the Taiwan Strait — was rumored to be on the brink of bankruptcy and its employees were not paid on time.

Xiaofei and Barbie rushed back to Taipei last week to boost employee morale and assure them that their business is in a healthy shape.

Xiaofei explained the paycheck was delayed because his firm had to remit money from China via Hong Kong to Taiwan.

Netizens however responded that this suggested their revenues in Taiwan were not sufficient to pay employees, and therefore it was being run at a loss.
