Da Bing’s (大炳) talents have been overshadowed by his repeated arrests over drug use since February 2007. His once-bright entertainment career came to a halt after he was caught the second time in April 2009, after which he announced he would take an indefinite leave from local showbiz.

He is famous for impersonating politicians, including Taiwan’s former premier Frank Hsieh (謝長廷), and female celebrities, such as Sisy Chen (陳文茜), Li Jing (利菁) and Tsai Chin (蔡琴). The talkative funnyman is also famous for being able to put his entire fist into his mouth.

His showbiz career peaked when he played the role of an “Asian gigolo” in the Hollywood film Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo in 2005, which starred comedians Rob Schneider and Eddie Griffin.

A self-confessed drug addict Chen Hung-ming (陳宏名), after being arrested in mid-April 2010, revealed that Da Bing is deeply addicted to amphetamines.

When singing in a restaurant on April 20, 2010, Da Bing for the first time admitted his sexuality by singing the song, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, to his ex-boyfriend Xiao Bao (小寶), who was also caught taking drugs at Da Bing’s home on April 12, 2010.

After being arrested for using drugs for the fourth time in March 2011, he moved to China to work as a TV producer while trying to overcome his “demons” and become a changed person.

Sadly, he suddenly died in Beijing on July 20 due to multiple organ failure caused by pneumonia, at the age of 37.
