The famously brilliant vocalist, Taiwan’s Aboriginal singer Kimbo (胡德夫) has been accused of molesting a teenage girl in a swimming pool — though he bitterly contests the claims.

The 14-year-old girl said she was swimming in the pool, on Saturday, when a gray-haired man suddenly hugged her from behind and touched her breasts.

She had to struggle to get away from the man, she said, and ran off in tears to seek help from her mother.

Kimbo, 61, countered that it was a total misunderstanding, as he saw the girl go under the water and was worried about her safety, so he tried to get her to a shallow part of the pool.

However, swimming coach Lai Hao-wen (賴皓文) at New Taipei City pool said after the incident he saw Kimbo in his black boxer shorts playing in the children’s pool.

He asked Kimbo to change into swimming gear. Kimbo agreed but walked toward the lady’s changing room. Lai stopped him and the two exchanged cross words.

“Kimbo smelled of alcohol and he was not ‘with it.’ He even walked into the lady’s rest room. I followed him all the way,” Lai said.

Lai said Kimbo kept walking around in the pool area. After he left the men’s rest room, he put one hand in his pants and waved at a female lifeguard, causing her extreme embarrassment.

He added Kimbo then tried to open other swimmers’ lockers for his own swimming trunks. Lai eventually found Kimbo’s bag on the shoe shelf.

Police interviewed the singer to investigate the girl’s claim.

Kimbo’s wife strongly supported her husband, saying he loves kids and they don’t understand why this has happened.
