A graduate of Shanghai Theater Academy, Lan Yan (蓝燕) has been called the “little Cecilia Cheung (小张柏芝)” as she looks similar to the Hong Kong actress.
Lan Yan had been struggling as an actress before she explicitly revealed in August 2010 her intimate relations with Hong Kong director Stanley Tong (唐季礼) — who promptly denied having had sex with her.
Lan Yan was shooting the world‘s first 3D erotic film, 3D Sex & Zen: Extreme Ecstasy (3D肉蒲团之极乐宝鉴) when the saucy reports, in which she said Stanley has a huge male organ and strong sex demands, were widely circulated.
She also said singer Jay Chou (周杰倫) was once crazy about her and called her four times in one day, asking her out for dinner.
The erotic film producers denied accusations they were behind the revelations.
The actress disappeared before the release of the 3D film and there were fears she had committed suicide, as friends and family said she was unstable.
It turned she had been living a nun’s life in a temple in Chongqing.
She returned to her Shanghai home on April 6 and flew to Hong Kong the next day to attend promotions of the film 3D Sex & Zen: Extreme Ecstasy (3D肉蒲团之极乐宝鉴).
