Ella Chen (陳嘉樺) of super girl band SHE held an engagement party with Malaysian fiance Alvin Lai (賴斯翔) in her hometown Pingtung, southern Taiwan, on Sunday.

Around 650 friends and relatives were invited to share their joy.

Following traditional customs, the 30-year-old Ella dressed in a red cheongsam and entered the restaurant in a bridal sedan chair.

She said it was just like appearing in a time travel TV series, where the protagonist typically goes back in time to the Tang Dynasty and is a princess or something.

Ella loudly and proudly proclaimed her love to Alvin, saying: “My groom is handsome and sweet … I will love you for 10,000 years!”

Her two other band mates, Selina Jen (任家萱) and Hebe Tien (田馥甄), did not show up on Sunday, but promised they would attend her wedding in Taipei on May 5.

Hebe jokingly congratulated her, saying “Relax. Don’t scare away Alvin!”
