Comedian Zhao Benshan’s (赵本山) Beijing club opened on Tuesday amid star-studded fanfare, demonstrating his extensive connections in showbiz.

A-list celebrities Zhang Ziyi (章子怡), Cecilia Cheung (张柏芝), Song Zuying (宋祖英) and Jackie Chan (成龙) were among the guests.

The master comedian even dispatched his company’s private jet to pick up Cecilia, who offered to attend the opening ceremony for free, in return for Benshan returning the favor and starring in her comedy film The Lion Roars 2 (河東獅吼2) free of charge.

It was reported that Benshan admires Cecilia’s strong personalities (sic) and the two have officially become god father and god daughter to each other.

Benshan refused to confirm.
