Hugh Jackman puckers up for China

Hollywood heartthrob Hugh Jackman’s Chinese has greatly improved after shooting Snow Flower and the Secret Fan (雪花与秘扇).

He spent two months practicing the old Chinese love song Give Me A Kiss (给我一个吻), which successfully moved the heart of his lover in the film, Korean actress Jeon Ji-hyun.

Despite being a seasoned actor, Hugh said he was very nervous when shooting the kissing scene with Ji-hyun.

While saying he enjoyed working on the great story, the Australian actor praised his fellow thespians Ji-hyun and Li Bingbing (李冰冰) and said they had the potential to develop into Hollywood A-list celebrities.

He said he was surprised to find how fluent their English is and their acting skills are no doubt excellent.

He said he was also impressed by the film crew.

One day, when they were filming in the Shanghai Bund, over 1,000 people visited the set, with many holding cameras and cell phones to take snaps.

He said he was wondering how they could start filming when a group of people emerged from nowhere and chased onlookers away.

When he was still watching, the director gave the order, “Action!”

He said this is incredible and Hollywood can never make it happen as fast!

The big-budget film, with Wendy Deng (邓文迪, aka Wendy Murdoch) a major investor, is set to premiere in China on Friday, June 24.
