Jiang Wen scouts locations for “Let the Bullets Fly II”
Director Jiang Wen (姜文) has been inspecting locations in advance of filming of the sequel to China’s best-selling flick Let the Bullets Fly (让子弹飞).
After touring Shanghai, Nanjing and Guangdong, Jiang Wen plans to build an “old Shanghai” in the city, instead of using the same old locations that have appeared in numerous films.
“The investment and scale of the construction will be much larger than in Bodyguards and Assassins (十月围城), when they rebuilt an ‘old Hong Kong,’” a film crew member said.
Let the Bullets Fly grossed 700 million yuan (US$107 million) at the box office in China.
Aside from Jiang Wen, the other two lead actors, Ge You (葛优) and Chow Yun-fat (周润发), who appeared in the first film, are expected to rejoin the cast.
Shooting will start, at the earliest, later this year.
