Feng Xiaogang disses “Comrade Sun Haiying” big time
Director Feng Xiaogang (冯小刚) has finally started fighting back against actor Sun Haiying (孙海英) – his fiercest critic.
An apoplectic Xiaogang, right, savaged Haiying by calling him “Big Mouth” after the actor said at a recent press event he would not watch the director’s film Aftershock (唐山大地震), even though he had free tickets.
“Chinese movies rarely have anything to do with real life, so I only watch US films … (Aftershock) is far away from my life. I have no plans to watch it although they delivered tickets to me,” — Boom! Sun Haiying attacks director Feng Xiaogang
“Chinese movies rarely have anything to do with real life, so I only watch US films … (Aftershock) is far away from my life. I have no plans to watch it although they delivered tickets to me,” Haiying said.
He also blasted Xiaogang for “pretending to know what he doesn’t” and added he is “merely a director of entertaining films, not art house productions.”
“Comrade Sun Haiying is quite funny,” Xiaogang responded at the time.
This time he was more forthcoming.
“I think he has illusions of grandeur by saying I gave him film tickets. I wouldn’t do that but I could buy him medication because it looks like he needs it” — Bam! Feng Xiaogang fights back
“I think he has illusions of grandeur by saying I gave him film tickets. I wouldn’t do that but I could buy him medication because it looks like he needs it,” Xiaogang said on his Sina Weibo microblog.
“Usually I don’t recommend the sick to watch films because that is inhumane. We have a responsibility to the sick and audience members who may attend the same showing.”
“How dare you call yourself a Chinese actor if you don’t watch Chinese films? Go act in Hollywood Such a hypocrite,” Xiaogang ended his rant.
May Daily Says: I was doubtful about the film, but having seen it was impressed and moved.
