Who thinks celebs really twit and post?
90% of the bigger-name celebrities leave the work to their PR teams and spin the news in their favor…
Hands up anyone who thinks celebrities really write their own blogs, correspond with readers on websites and reach out to fans on Twitter or other microblogging sites?
Now put you hands down and feel slightly naive.
Of course, they don’t. They have a team of public relations agents doing it for them.
Often enough these professional writers don’t even consult the artist concerned.
Artists or celebrities are company products and generally do what they’re told.
They’re manufactured articles made to appear as if they care for you, but actually the only thing that matters is that they make money for their record or film company executives.
The recent case of Jackie Chan (成龙) belatedly blaming his “American assistant” for twitting about the Philippines hostage taking debacle, is just the tip of the iceberg.
As pal Eric Tsang (曾志伟) said, Jackie just doesn’t have the English skills to write in the language.
The only celebrity who might actually write his own posts is Wang Lee-hom (王力宏), because he is a writer and a control freak.
Otherwise, 90% of the bigger-name celebrities leave the work to their PR teams and spin the news in their favor.
I know because I know the people who do this work.
Trust me.
