Ever eager to put a rumor right, I ought to mention that Gong Li (巩俐) is saying she is not a single lady.

Cue sighs of frustration among every single man on the planet.

Including, presumably, John Cusack, who was said to have visited her room late one night while filming Shanghai, the film she is currently promoting.

When asked about her supposed divorce with hubby Ooi Hoe Seong (黃和祥), according to a MSN report, Gong Li said: “Who said that? I don’t know; I think that’s just a rumor.”

She added that it was a “false rumor,” which is odd, because it was started by her manager Christophe Tseng.

As for the gossip that she had an affair with Shanghai co-star John, this was just not true, Gong Li said.

“It was a pleasant experience working with these actors but the rumors really came out of nowhere.”

“It’s nothing much, really; going out for a drink and hooking up are two entirely different things, so I’ll just let people say whatever they like.”
