Pregnancy is IN!
Having a baby would appear to be fashionable in showbiz circles, especially if there is a financial reward at the end of the giving birth rainbow.
While Cecilia Cheung (张柏芝) is about to deliver and Vicki Zhao (趙薇) gave birth last week, former Miss Hong Kong Michelle Reis (李嘉欣) has reportedly softened her stance on pregnancy and said, “If there is a need, I’ll accept (artificial insemination).”
“If there is a need, I’ll accept (artificial insemination)” — Michelle Reis
Reis, who will turn 40 next month, has been at odds with the parents of her hubby Julian Hui (许晋亨) over having babies since the two got married in 2008.
But she has done a U-turn recently, supposedly because her parents-in-law have offered a “sky-high price” of HK$500 million (US$64 million) — as long as she is willing to try AI, it doesn’t matter whether it succeeds or not.
Reports suggest Reis will visit a hospital in California this summer, at the earliest, to try to conceive, and it will cost around US$80,000.
Another Hong Kong actress Gigi Lai (黎姿), 39, confirmed last month that she is pregnant with “boy-girl twins,” due in July, via AI.
Her billionaire husband Patrick Ma (马廷强) is so excited that he has booked the most luxurious ward in Hong Kong’s Canossa Hospital and has hired two professional caretakers, at a monthly salary of HK$30,000 (US$3,860) each, on top of their original three helpers, in order to offer Lai five-star service around the clock.
